Special session on Virtual Reality at NCVPRIPG 2017

The graphics group delivered a special session on Virtual Reality (VR) at the National Conference on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Graphics (NCVPRIPG) 2018. The session consisted of two talks on fundamentals and research in VR by Dr. Ojaswa Sharma, and a hands-on demonstration on creating VR application by Ms. Nishima Arora.

 

Abstract of the session:

Virtual Reality (VR) is an upcoming technology that enables an immersive visual experience for the users. Though in nascent stages, the technology has  promising applications in the areas of medical/cognitive science, training, and remote collaboration. This tutorial will give an understanding of VR fundamentals, and will deep dive into the research challenges. The tutorial is structured into three parts to cover the basics of VR, designing VR applications in Unity3D game engine, and understanding concurrent research in this field.
